 Personal Support

Patient and Nurse

Personal support is needed when you or your loved one begins to require some extra help in your day-to-day lives. This support allows you to continue living a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle within the comfort of your own home. Personal care includes any type of support with tasks associated with your ADLS (activities of daily living) such as getting dressed and undressed, grooming, brushing teeth etc.

Short term recovery support  is for  postoperative support individuals or those recovering from an illness. This usually lasts for up to 6 weeks. During this time, unfortunately, some people will be left temporarily unable to care for themselves and requires support while they recover from illness or injury.  Our PSW's can provide personal care, such as help with daily living activities and other practical tasks and help give individuals the confidence and skills to eventually carry out these activities on their own so they can continue to live as independently as possible.

Personal support is helpful with things like:

  • bathing, showering, hair washing, shaving, brushing your teeth, toileting, skin care

  • laundry and bed changing

  • feeding, special diets, and food preparation

  • mobility support

  • getting dressed, help getting in and out of bed

  • psychological support and reminder services

  • medication assistance (like eye drops), application of creams and lotions, simple wound dressings
